Church Community
This Committee of Parish Council is the group that fosters and builds the sense of community within the congregation. The Church Community Ministry organizes parties and social events that get people together, such as the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper. It is responsible for welcoming newcomers and potential newcomers into our midst and making sure that people who join our parish meet people and get to know their way around. We take care of refreshments for the weekly social gatherings after the services, organize the refreshments for special events such as the Parish Anniversary and oversee that great parish recycling effort, the Rummage Sale. Hey life's just one big party in the Community Ministry! Love people, entertaining? This is the committee for you. Email the parish office or call 416-920-5211. |

On Thursday, June 5, 2008, we will hold another Grill 'n Gather on the lawn. This year we will again feature artists of our congregation in the Arthur Smith Room. Some will offer their works for sale. Our BBQ will once again offer Souvlaki, salads, and our very popular Ice Cream Truck on the front lawn. As last year, the Ice Cream proceeds will be donated to the ACW. We are appealing to anyone interested in showcasing their creations. Please contact Jayne through the Parish Office 416-920-5211. So, please mark your calendar... tell your friends and neighbours and be sure to join us for an early dinner on the lawn. |

HOLY GROUNDS CAFE our Sunday Coffee Hour
In addition to serving cookies on Sundays, we now serve Fair Trade coffee and tea. Fair Trade is an organization that rigorously monitors producers, roasters and distributors for adherence to Fair Trade criteria. It also provides a living wage to farmers by setting a base price that is well above current market prices, and it ensures that the coffee is produced by democratically run cooperatives. Fair trade coffee is especially important now, due to the coffee crisis that is devasting coffee-producing communities around the globe. Visit the Fair Trade website here » an initiative of of Oxfam International - or the Fair Trade Federation here » Thank You! Community Ministry is grateful for your support of our Fair Trade initiative.
We would like to sell fair trade items each week after our worship services. Do you have the time and energy to help out? Our goal is simple: Can our Fair Trade sales profits cover the operating costs of the Holy Grounds Café? We are on our way to making that happen! Our concept of fairer trade is making a difference while we enjoy each other’s company. To inquire about helping out, please call Jayne Miles Simpson through the Parish Office: 416-920-5211 Fair Trade tea and chocolate-covered coffee beans are excellent gifts for summer barbeques and afternoon tea!
Yea! Money raised despite the weather... The figures are in and what a delectable snowy night it was! Thanks to all who participated in Jamaican Jump-Up '08. We raised $364.74 for our parish, and we collected $267 for The Saturday Morning Tutorials run by the Jamaican-Canadian Association. This worthy program offers Tutors to Jamaican-Canadian students on Saturday mornings. CCDP will be supplying some breakfasts for them over the next number of weeks. 'Irie!' |
