Once a month, CAMMAC singers and instrumentalists get together and "read through" a mass, cantata or opera (for choir and orchestra) under the direction of a professional choir director. The read-throughs are not intended as rehearsals, and we do not perform for any formal audience, although listeners are welcome. Monthly readings are held at Christ Church Deer Park. Friday, April 2, 2010 (Good Friday) at 8 p.m. Buxtehude’s Passion Oratorio: Membra Jesu Nostri Don’t miss this rarely heard Baroque masterpiece by Dietrich Buxtehude, J.S. Bach’s great Danish teacher! Membra Jesu Nostri consists of seven cantatas, each an address to a part of Christ’s body. Soloists: Dawn Bailey, soprano, Vicki St. Pierre, mezzo-soprano, and Paul Oros, baritone. Opening Notes • 7 p.m.

The Toronto Chamber Choir - a 40-voice chorus specializing in music of the Renaissance and Baroque periods - has earned a reputation for historically-informed performances of rarely-heard Baroque and Renaissance masterpieces. Their goal is to provide inspired and educational musical experiences which enhance the audience’s understanding and enjoyment of Early Music.
