Growing Healthy Stewards
November 13, 2016
To the Parish:
The Growing Healthy Stewards program has been introduced to the Parish this year and we are pleased that good progress is being made. You will have heard about opportunities to commit time, talent and treasure to CCDP from the pulpit, in Spiritus, on the website, at the exciting Discovery Fair held on October 16 and in our letter to the Parish in September. The program has been developed by the Diocese of Toronto and is being successfully implemented at sister parishes such as Grace Church on the Hill and St Clements.
Growing Healthy Stewards is a personal stewardship education program intended to fulfill individual Christian discipleship and ensuring the vibrancy and future of CCDP.
The services at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Sunday, November 27, 2016 will focus on our financial commitment to CCDP and its Christian mission. On that day, all parishioners are being asked to consider their financial commitment and to confirm it to CCDP by returning the commitment form that everyone will receive.
With this letter you are receiving the following:
- A Growing Healthy Stewards brochure which provides a financial update of 2016 parish finances and needs
- A pledge or commitment form to be completed and returned to CCDP at a service on November 27-or as soon as convenient. The brochure above contains some giving guidelines to help you determine the amount of your commitment
- A statement showing your recent financial contribution to CCDP (only if you are an identified giver in our records)
The usual offertory collection at our services on November 27 will be moved to the Commitment Sunday program (20-30 minutes) at the end of the services when commitment forms will be collected.
The primary purpose of the Growing Healthy Stewards program is ensure that we all contribute to CCDP's Christian mission according to our resources of time, skills and money. The focus of Commitment Sunday is our financial contribution. We want to make sure that:
- everyone considers her or his own contribution and makes a commitment to CCDP by the end of the year, and
- we complete the 2016 financial year without an operating deficit
For those who (understandably) will not be able to attend on November 27, or otherwise cannot return their form in time by mail or other delivery, we will be following up in December with a call, visit or other contact to encourage participation. We plan to track our overall participation rate and results and make them available to the Parish.
We are asking that you confirm by completion and return of the enclosed commitment form a one-time top-up gift for 2016 and what you intend to contribute in 2017. In considering your commitment, please help by: (1) using the Pre-authorized Withdrawal option for your 2017 contribution (if you are not already doing so), and (2) being as generous as you can in line with your means, the giving guidelines referred to in the financial brochure and CCDP's increasing needs in fulfilling its Christian mission.
For further information or if you want to get involved, please speak to any member of the Management Team, Bob Hutchison, the Chair of the Stewardship Committee (416 488 7436) or Carolyn Kearns, the Vice Chair (416 436 5191).
Thanks in advance for your consideration regarding this important initiative.
