Confirmation

The Anglican Church of Canada confirms people of any age who have come to the stage in their lives when they are ready to affirm their baptismal vows and publicly declare their Christian faith. This is especially important for people who were baptized as infants or children when baptismal vows were made on their behalf by parents and godparents.

Each person's journey in the Christian faith is different. Some may feel ready for Confirmation in their teen years, while for others it may be as an adult. Baptism is also a sacrament for which people may be ready at different times in their lives.

The sacrament of confirmation for young people and adults will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2008 If you wish to be part of an Inquirers’ Group, you may contact the Rev. Greg Carpenter at (416) 920-5211 x31 or email.

Re-Affirmation • Reception into the Anglican Communion

The variety of expression of faith found within Anglicanism is a way of honouring and nurturing a variety of approaches toward truth and spiritual wholeness. The tradition is open to new knowledge, and new ways of nurturing the ways of seeking the divine Life.

For some, the pathways of development lead to a desire to reaffirm vows they took in earlier years. Vows of reaffirmation may be an appropriate liturgical expression to respond to such a development.

Some find their faith and belief have developed in a way that is more authentically expressed in the community and context of a different denomination. For those who come to the Anglican Church already baptized as a Christian, to honour the original vows as well as a new life in a different faith community, a "Reception into the Anglican Community" may be appropriate - there are new vows, but the Anglican Church recognizes the baptism and confirmation of the other Christian traditions.

Is reaffirmation or reception something you are considering? Contact contact the Rev. Greg Carpenter at (416) 920-5211 x31 or email. The next service of re-affirmation/reception will take place Sunday, April 13, 2008 when the bishop visits the parish for confirmation.

Marriage

The Anglican Church of Canada affirms that marriage is a life-long union of faithful love.

This union is established by God's grace when two persons enter into a contract of marriage in which they publicly declare their intention of fulfilling its purposes and exchange vows.
