PromiseLand Celebrates All Saints Day!
The kids of CCDP did lots of “Saintly” learning this October in preparation for our All Saints Day celebration on Nov. 4th. We dramatized stories, played games and learned songs about different Christian Saints including Saint George and Saint Patrick. We had so much fun and learned a lot too!

FOOD FOR FOOD: PROMISELAND RAISES $151 FOR THE FOOD BANK!
The kids and teens of CCDP gathered early on December 1st to bake an assortment of delicious muffins and cookies. We set up a table outside during the Christmas Fair and sold coffee and treats to hungry shoppers and passerbys. We sold out of everything before noon and raised $151, all of which will go to the Churches-on-the-Hill Food Bank and help provide food for people in need in our community. Thank you to everyone who helped bake and sell, and to everyone who bought treats and supported this initiative!
PROMISELAND COLLECTS 429 ITEMS!
THANK YOU to everyone who generously contributed to our Canned Food Drive for the Churches-on-the-Hill Food Bank. With your help, we collected a total of 429 items which have been picked up and sorted by Food Bank volunteers and will soon be delivered to families in need. Thank you!

ECO-BAKE SALE TO SAVE THE CEDARS!!
To wrap up our Eco-Lent, we spent a morning baking organic cookies, no-bake peanut butter chocolate squares and vegan brownies. Thank you to everyone who supported our eco-bake sale and helped us raise $165 to adopt a Cedar of Lebanon! Cedars of Lebanon are an endangered species of tree that was used extensively for construction and transportation in Biblical times. Unfortunately they were so overused that there are very few remaining. Our bake sale funded the planting and care of 1 Cedar in Lebanon. Stay tuned for pictures and growth updates!

We had tons of fun and raised a total of $257 for the Yonge Street Mission! After learning about their programmes from our guest speaker Wendy Robbins, we know that our contribution will help give people in need a place to eat, play and learn. PROMISELAND MAKES SANDWICHES FOR THE HOMELESS
This Thanksgiving, the kids of PromiseLands talked about thankfulness and the importance of sharing our blessings. Then, we took action and helped feed the hungry in our community! We worked together to make 20 bag lunches complete with a turkey or PB & J sandwich, fruit and a juice box and dropped them off at the Scott Mission after the service. The Scott Mission is a downtown Christian Mission that provides shelter and food for those in need.

PROMISELAND CELEBRATES WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY - June 5th 2011
CCDP's kids and teens commemorated World Environment Day by enjoying an entirely VEGAN breakfast. We made the food together, and then everyone sampled the delicious AND environmentally conscious breakfast. We also discussed different food choices (local, vegan, vegetarian), and why eating animal products as much as we do here in North America is problematic for the world.

PROMISELAND BAKES FOR HARVEST FOR THE HUNGRY!
The kids of PromiseLand mixed, stirred, kneaded and baked all morning on April 16th in preparation for their bake sale fundraiser on Palm Sunday. Dozens and dozens of delicious baked goods were made, everything from buttertarts to cupcakes to classic chocolate chip cookies.

The bake sale was an enormous hit, and absolutely everything was sold (quite quickly too!!). The kids raised a total of $356.92, every penny of which will be donated to Harvest for the Hungry! Harvest for the Hungry provides locally sourced food boxes for families living in poverty in Eastern Europe, www.eurovangelism.org

PromiseLand Gives Hope to our Canadian Soldiers in Afghanistan!
On November 7th 2010, Lieutenant Colonel Sylvain Maurais joined us in PromiseLand. He shared stories and experiences of being a Military Chaplain in Afghanistan and asked the children to create symbols of hope to send to our soldiers. The letters and poster we created were carefully packed up and have sent to our troops. We give thanks for all their efforts and sacrifices and pray for peace and justice in our world. Lent & Holy Week in PromiseLand.
We have a delicious Pancake Supper to kick-off the Lenten season, followed by a meaningful family service and imposition of ashes. On Good Friday, we have an interactive service remembering Jesus’ walk to Jerusalem and then break bread together.

Lenten Eco-Challenge!
Eco-ActionThis Lent, PromiseLand embarked on a journey of Environmental awareness and action! Every day, we tried to do at least one Eco-Action -- packing reusable lunch containers, eating vegetarian/vegan, walking or biking to school -- to reduce our carbon footprint and raise awareness. Thank you to everyone who participated in making our world a little more 'green'! For a list of possible ECO-ACTIONS! - Click here »
