In the Lutheran tradition, Good Friday was once THE most important day of the church year - more than Chistmas & Easter. Re Good Friday not being a holiday in the U.S. One could also add that it is not a holiday in France.. I believe this is because of the agreement dealing with the separation of Church and State. Perhaps this applies also to the U.S.A., but I don't know. - Joan
